Lahore: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Sardar Mehtab Abbasi met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here today and discussed matters of mutual interest and the situation of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan is passing through a critical phase of its history. He said that terrorism, extremism and sectarianism are a major hurdle in the national progress and development, however, the whole nation has decided to root out this menace from the country.
The Chief Minister said that spirit of patriotism of people of North Waziristan who left their homes for the country is highly commendable. He said that IDPs have rendered invaluable sacrifices for securing the future of nation. He said that the dream of making Pakistan a peaceful state will be realized.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad. Matters of mutual interest as well as overall situation of the country were discussed in the meeting.
Talking to the Federal Minister, Shahbaz Sharif said that elimination of extremism is essential for survival and development of the country. He said that Youhanabad incident is highly deplorable. He said that all political and religious parties as well as institutions are one page for the eradication of terrorism. He said that terrorists want to create chaos in the country for the achievement of their nefarious designs but the nation will counter them through maintaining complete unity.
The Chief Minister said that terrorism is a collective problem and will have to be tackled through joint efforts. He said that Ulema and religious leaders will have to play an active role for the promotion of religious tolerance and harmony.
Shahbaz Sharif further said that Punjab government has taken effective measures under National Action Plan and its implementation will rid the country of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism.
