IGP distributes prizes among the best cops

Lahore: Police is front line force on war against terrorism and the encouragement / morale boosting of the police officers / officials who are performing their duties courageously, diligently and devotedly will be continued in the department.

This was stated by the Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while distributing cash awards / certificates among the police officials for their outstanding performance in a ceremony held at Central Police Office, Lahore today. DIG Headquarters Punjab, Farooq Mazhar, AIG Discipline, Dr. Inam Waheed, PSO to IGP, Tariq Rustam Chauhan and other officers of CPO were also present on this occasion.

The PPO distributed 18,40,000 cash award among 47 police officers / officials of 12 districts including Lahore, Sahiwal, D.G. Khan, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Bahawalpur and Khanewal. Among these 10 achievers belong to district Sialkot.

During the ceremony, Inspector Mian Ehsan Ullah was awarded a 50,000 cash with CC-I.He discharged his duties by safely evacuating a woman who was directly targeted by  a mob during the Yuhannabad incident occurred in Lahore few days back. The brave and courageous officer saved the woman by risking his own life.

Later, answering the questions of media persons regarding Youhanabad incident, IGP stated that it was wrong that no police officials were deployed on the security duty of the Churches. He said that it was due to the outstanding performance of police officers and razakars that the suiciders failed to achieve their target which could have damaged more than 1500 lives during service in two churches on that day.

Moreover, IGP said that on receiving the authentic information about the Muslim Christian clashes, timely action taken by the police has saved Lahore from a big loss. He said that rangers were called and were on standby to handle any untoward situation.

The provincial police chief further stated that the criminals involved in lynching of two youngsters will be arrested very shortly as the police has gathered authentic clues about the accused.
