PBIT introduces helpline “Zimmadar Shehri” for lodging complaints

Dr Umar SaifLahore: Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Dr. Umar Saif has said that to crop the real benefits of reduced prices of petroleum products, the PITB has introduced an effective mode of lodging public complaints by contacting the helpline of Punjab Government-“Zimmadar Shehri”.

While talking here, he told that the government had reduced prices of Diesel and petrol to much extent during last months, but it was not benefitting the people due to traditional tactics of distributors and filling stations owners.

On receiving large number of complaints, the Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif wished to resolve the matter. The issue was taken up by the PITB and the citizens were requested, through an awareness campaign to call at the Zimmedar Shehri helpline i.e. 0800-02345 and report the offenders on spot. He told that the helpline, working round the clock received a massive response from the public in a short span of time as approximately 6,000 complaints were registered against petrol pumps’ owners and almost all of them were resolved by district governments.“The citizens can also report other discrepancies such as if any distributor refuses to sell the fuel or its quality or quantity is low. The use of cell phone has proved much helpful to overcome many other disarrays like hoarding, price hike and selling of substandard food items. The use of modern technology is promoting culture of accountability as well as transparency in the society by solving the complicated problems effectively at grass root level,” he held.
