Health Department holds inquiry about theft of medicines from govt hospitals

Parliamentarty Sec Health (1)Lahore: Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique directed to conduct inquiry into the theft case of medicines from public sector hospitals which were recovered during a raid by the Health Department team from Shadman Market.

An inquiry committee headed by Additional Secretary Health (Tech) Dr. Suleman Shahid has been constituted. The other members of the committee included Dr. Health (HQ) Dr. Ahmad Afifi, EDO Health Lahore Dr. Zulfiqar Ali and Chief Drug Controller Dr. Zaka-ur-Rehman. The Adviser has directed to submit a report within 72 hours. He further said that this is a test case to control stealing of medicines from government hospitals.

Kh. Salman Rafique expressed displeasure with the Medical Superintendents of those hospitals whose medicines were recovered during a raid by the Health Department team under the supervision of Parliamentary Secretary on Health Kh. Imran Nazir in Shadman market last night. He said that strict action will be taken against the officers and officials who will found involved in this illegal practice. Kh. Salman Rafique said that on the direction of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, operation against spurious and substandard medicines will continue till the complete eradication of this heinous crime.
