Lahore: Punjab University Teachers Front Alliance has won the elections of Academic Staff Association.
According to official results, PU TF’s Prof Dr Hasan Mobeen Alam took 429 votes while his opponents from Teachers Front Alliance Dr Ahsan Sharif took 210 votes and Faculty Strengthening Group’s Dr Rana Ejaz took 43 votes.
On the slot of secretary, Dr Mahboob Hussain secured 372 votes while his rival and member Syndicate Javed Sami 223 and Dr Bushra Rehman could secure 87 votes respectively. On the seats of Vice President Science, PU TF’s Dr Faheem Aftab took 363 votes while his rivals Dr Asmatullah grabbed 272 votes and Dr Usman Anwar took 55 votes.
On Vice President Arts, PU TF’s Dr Abid Hussain Chaudhry took 404 votes while his opponents Iftikhar Ahmed Tarrar and Dr Abida Eijaz took 208 and 66 votes respectively.
On Joint Secretary’s slot, PU TF Farhan Ahmed secured 426 votes while his opponents Dr Shahbaz Ahmed Cheema took 233 votes. On Treasurer’s slot, PU TF’s Dr Hafiz Abdul Moqeet clinched the seat by obtaining 443 votes while his opponents Tariq Mahmood Butt and Iffat Sayeed took 199 and 43 votes respectively.
On members executive new campus, PU TF’s Engineer Mudassar Azam 451, Dr Muhammad Ayub Fridi 444, Shabbir Sarwar 435, Naeemullah Khan 463, Dr Naumana Amjad 460, Sonia Omer 430 and executive members old campus Dr Sardar Asghar Iqbal 469 and Misbah Sultana secured 455 votes.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has congratulated newly elected body of Academic Staff Association. In his message, Dr Mujahid Kamran said the newly-elected ASA office bearers would play their role in promotion of research and politics of principals in the university. He hoped that the ASA body would help administration in maintaining peaceful academic atmosphere on campus.
