Punjab Government approves a project for setting up a new city in Salt Range

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting, here today, which gave approval to the proposed project of setting up a special economic zone and a new city in Salt Range near Motorway.

Addressing the meeting, The Chief Minister said that the proposed project of establishment of special economic zone and a new city will prove to be a milestone in the promotion of industrial, economic and trade activities. He directed that immediate steps be taken for the practical implementation of the proposed project.

He said that services of prominent international consultant should be acquired and necessary work be initiated immediately. He said that implementation of the proposed project will result in job opportunities to lakhs of people.

Chairman Planning & Development gave a detailed briefing on the project. Provincial Minister for Industry Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, Member Provincial Assembly Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chairman Planning and Development, concerned secretaries and senior officers were present on the occasion.
