Daycare centers established in Lahore College for Women University

Minister Women DevelopmentLahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that with a view to facilitating working women, daycare centers are being set up at a cost of Rs. 200 million in different institutions across the province.

She was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the daycare center set up at Lahore College for Women University Lahore, with the cooperation of Women Development Department Punjab. Vice Chancellor LCWU Dr. Sabiha Mansoor, Dr. Sara Shahid, Dr. Saima besides a large number of teachers and students were present on the occasion.

The Minister said that women constitute 52 percent population of Pakistan and are playing an important role in various sectors. She said that for the purpose of facilitating working women, Punjab government is establishing daycare centers in educational institutions and offices under a phased programme which is being implemented throughout the province.

She said that in addition to five daycare centers in Lahore, six such centers will be inaugurated in Bahawalpur, Chakwal and Faisalabad in the month of March. Hameeda Waheed ud Din further said that these daycare centers will be of international standard and trained staff has been deputed for the look after of children from the age of four months to four years.

Vice Chancellor Sabiha Mansoor threw lights on the aims and objectives of daycare centers and appreciated the steps taken by the Punjab government in this regard.
