Humanitarian Support provided by National Bank demonstrates its positive values:Mehtab Siddiqui

Lahore: National Bank provides significant support to the community by assisting several organizations that are particularly active to serve humanity, said Mehtab Siddiqui, Manager Media, PR & Brand Management. Being the largest commercial bank, National Bank of Pakistan, CSR is an integral part of NBP’s corporate policy, he said, adding that the bank has institutionalized by creating a separate Division headed by Mr. Iqbal Qasim, running a full-fledged CSR Program to bring positive change and improving quality of life of underprivileged members of our society.

The Prime area of focus for CSR initiatives are promotion of Education, Health, Woman and Child Welfare, Special Persons, Culture, Sports and relief for effectees of natural disasters, he emphasized.
“It is a matter of pride that, NBP has been recently awarded with the “Gold Medal on CSR” by Prime Minister of Pakistan on basis of overall NBP contributions and donations for charitable, social, educational and public welfare purposes.” Mehtab Siddiqui expressed.

During the briefing, he also lauded the efforts of President of National Bank, Mr. Syed Ahmed Iqbal Ashraf, for launching different CSR initiatives successfully. In the context of recently-distributed donation cheques to various organizations, Mehtab Siddiqui said that the humanitarian support provided by the Bank demonstrated its positive values.

“NBP has contributed wholeheartedly in the ‘Health’ sector by supporting Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre through adoption of Female Ward; SIUT, Noor Memorial Hospital Chakwal for construction of Lab & X-Ray facilities; NBP provides Equipment support to Ghulab Devi, Lady Willington, Ganga Ram & Bolan Medical Hospitals. Bank also organizes Medical & Eye camps countrywide for free treatment of Underprivileged patients. Bank also organized 1122 Free Medical Camps in Flood Affected areas of District Jhang,” he said.

In ‘Education’ sector too, NBP has played a vital role by providing financially support to develop and upgrade infrastructure of “The HUB” “KSBL” “IBA” Taaleem Foundation’s school at Kila Saifullah & Bagh Baluchistan, The Citizen Foundation School at Nawabshah and Children Care Foundation Lahore. Bank under its “Scholarship Program” also provide financial assistance to 40 trainees of Hunar Foundation Tando Allahyar, 15 Students of IBA Sukkur, 10 students of PAF Sargodhian Sprit Trust and 35 students of Academy INFAQ Foundation. NBP in collaboration with Family Educational Service Foundation conducted MOVE (Motivational Volunteer Empowerment) programs to build a strong network of motivated young volunteers Program at Peshawar, Quetta, and Sukkur. Lifetime Support to TCF School, Nawabshah; The Hub School; Donation to Foreman Christian College Lahore, he informed.

While answering a question, Mehtab Siddiqui said that NBP also supported cultural events and recently sponsored the All Pakistan Folk singing Mela at Faisalabad, Allami Mushaira at Arts Council Karachi, Festival of Colours (Holi Festival), Christmas & Easter events, Arts competition with PWDs, events at Dar ul Sukun, for Senior Citizens.

“NBP pays special attentions to special persons with various sporting activities on National Level such as Blind Cricket Tournaments, Wheelchairs user’s Cricket tournaments, Disable Cricket tournaments & other competitions,” he said, while mentioning some of the projects organized, including:  Outreach Camps for Disable Persons – Chakwal, Distributed Wheel Chairs, Tri-cycles, White Canes through various NGOs.

Under Head of Woman & Child Welfare, NBP also initiated about 15 projects of vocational training  with its implementing partner Kaus-e-Kazah Welfare Organization with title “Empowered Women and Empowered Pakistan”  to help needy and poor women especially of rural backgrounds wherein about 300 women benefited through these projects, he further said. National Women Hockey Championship Karachi; District Cricket Tournament -Gwadar and Women Football South Asian Games-Islamabad, were some of those NBP-sponsored activities, Mehtab Sidiqui concluded.

On the occasion, Dr. Fauzia Mughees, Executive Coordinator of Kaus-e-Kazah Welfare Organization, also exchanged views with the participants.
