PIA & Pakistan Customs subdue their rivals in the ongoing 5th Customs Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup Hockey Tournament

Lahore: Hat-tricks by two captains Kashif Ali of Pakistan International Airlines and Haseem Khan of Pakistan Customs led from the front to subdue their rivals in the ongoing 5thCustoms Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at the Customs Preventive Service Club & Sports Complex here on Monday. PIA outclassed PAF 5-1 and Customs defeated Police 7-2. Customs Directorate of Sports is organizing this tournament in collaboration with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) which aims at to spot future talent for the national team.PIA & Pakistan Customs subdue their rivals in the ongoing 5th Customs Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup Hockey Tournament

PIA had an easy win against PAF in the opening match of the day. They immediately took control of the proceedings scoring two goals in as many minutes. Atif Mushtaq opened the account in the 7thminute on a penalty corner while Imran Abbas scored a beautiful field goal in the 8th minute. Then Kashif Ali scored three beautiful field goals amid excellent dribbling and dodging in the middle. His three consecutive goals cemented his team’s position. All his goals were scored on penalty corners in the 18th, 39th and 40th minutes respectively. PAF forwards lacked coordination and they missed a couple of chances trying individually. Their lone goal was scored by Mudassar in the 36th minute. Kamran Shareef and Hanifuddin supervised the match.

Customs enjoyed supremacy over Police throughout the second match. Their Captain and man of the Match Haseem Khan netted the first goal on a pass from Rizwan Khan in the 8thminute. Imran Khan doubled the lead in the 18th minute on a penalty corner. In the 21st minute Mohammed Mateen picked the ball on a rebound in the D and neatly struck the goal post. Haseem scored two more goals in the 26th and 32nd minutes respectively. Ali Azlan Khan (50th min) and Mohammed Naveed (54thmin) scored a goal each.

From Police Uzair and Ehtesham scored a goal each in the 23rdand 51stminutes respectively. Muneer and Atif Malik supervised the match. Chief Collector Customs Enforcement (South) Mohammed Nazim Salim was the chief guest of the second match.
