Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan has said that Punjab government has decided to prepare new cadet core of college students on the pattern of National Cadet Core in the province and its format will soon be given a final shape. He said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will accord approval to new formula of additional marks and educational incentives to girl and boy students completing training course of cadets.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting of Divisional Director (Colleges) of the province. The Minister said that all educational institutions including public and private sector universities will open on January 12. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has constituted District Security Committees comprising concerned DCOs and senior representatives of provincial departments and different security agencies throughout the province, he added.
Rana Mashud said that special inspection teams have also been constituted for the verification of security arrangements in educational institutions which will submit their reports to District Security Committees on daily basis. If any institution showed negligence deliberately in bringing security arrangements up to prescribed Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs), action will be taken by the district security committee after listing to the stance of owner and principal of the institution, he added.
The Minister said that Punjab government is ready to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists and will ensure protection of life and property of the people. He said that Punjab government has constituted youth force for peace comprising five lakh youth volunteers who will ensure timely information to the law enforcement agencies regarding any suspect and stranger. He said that it is also the responsibility of media to expose those creating hatred and should unite the nation by bringing forth positive narrative of patriotic forces and discourage those creating confusion.
Earlier, addressing Vice Chancellors’ conference, Rana Mashud said that VCs of public and private universities have high esteem in academia of Pakistan. He said that with the consultations of VCs, the government will formulate a new national educational framework for evolving a long term strategy to eradicate trends of extremism in the young generation. He said that government will provide additional security to those 46 educational institutions of A Plus category which have not yet completed security arrangements.
