Nurses are of key importance in health delivery system:Secretary Health Punjab

Lahore: Secretary Health Punjab, Jawad Rafique Malik has said that nurses are of key importance in health delivery system. He said that without nurses the idea of health system is impossible and the women working in this sector are not performing their duties but are engaged in a form of worship. He said that steps have been taken for modernizing system of nurses and their training abroad.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony of cash prize distribution among student nurses obtaining prominent positions in Punjab Nursing Examination Board at Directorate General Health Services today. Director General Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Director General Nurses Rukhsana Kamal, Controller Nursing Examination Board Punjab besides Principal Nursing School CMH Lahore and student nurses were present on the occasion.Secretary Health Punjab

Secretary Health said that such a ceremony has been arranged first time for the encouragement of girl students acquiring positions in examination of nurses. He said that there are no two opinions regarding the importance, sanctity and respect of nursing sector throughout the world. Jawad Rafique announced practical steps at government level for modernizing syllabus of nurses, steps for their training and strengthening of professional skills. He said that government is fully aware about the details regarding improvement of service structure of nurses, their promotion in next grades and generation of new posts. He said that there is great shortage of nurses in health sector and the ratio between doctors and nurses is very low. He said that arrangements for training of nurses abroad will be made with the cooperation of health roadmap and other institutions. He said that government is promoting important cadre of nursing sincerely for the benefit of patients. He said that image of country can be improved by producing nurses of international standard and sending them abroad.

Secretary Health distributed cash prizes of 10 thousand and five thousand rupees among nurses obtaining first, second and third positions in first year, second year and third year in annual examinations of Nursing Examination Board. The office-bearers of Punjab Nurses Association appreciated the steps of Secretary Health for holding a function for the encouragement of nurses first time in the history of the province.
