CM chairs first meeting of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that setting up of Overseas Pakistani Commission Punjab is another revolutionary step of the provincial government. He said that Overseas Pakistani Commission Punjab will play an important role in resolving the problems and complaints of overseas Pakistanis. He said that government has given a constitutional cover to the Commission and it will be extended all out support by the provincial government. He said that he will personally monitor the Commission.

He was addressing the first meeting of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, here today. Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Afzaal Bhatti gave a detailed briefing on the aims and objectives of the Commission.

The Chief Minister said that overseas Pakistanis are ambassadors of the country and Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab has been set up for resolving their problems. He said that Commission has been empowered to immediately redress the complaints of the Pakistanis living in Middle East, Europe, America and other countries. He said that the Commission will take effective steps for addressing the complaints of overseas Pakistanis.

The Chief Minister directed that commission should work with national spirit and spare no effort for resolving the problems of Pakistanis living abroad. He said that committees will be set up at every district while advisory councils comprising overseas Pakistanis will also be constituted. He said that the persons having good repute should be included in the district committees.

Shahbaz Sharif said that overseas Pakistanis can also get their complaints registered online and he will personally monitor the efficiency of the Commission and the steps taken to resolve their problems. He said that immediate action will be taken on the complaints of overseas Pakistanis.

The Chief Minister congratulated Vice Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti on assuming their office. Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission Afzaal Bhatti assured the Chief Minister that Commission will work in accordance with his vision and try to come up to his expectations.

Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din, Vice Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission Shaheen Khalid Butt, Members Provincial Assembly Mian Tariq, Mansha Ullah Butt, Rana Liaqat Ali, Additional Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Chairman Planning & Development, concerned secretaries and senior officials attended the meeting.
