Strict action should be taken against profiteers:Syed Mubashar Raza

CDGL-3 Cheif SecLahore: Acting Chief Secretary Punjab Syed Mubashar Raza has said that after reduction in prices of petroleum products, sale of edible items fixed by the government, LPG on OGRA rates and decrease in transport fares should be ensured and strict action should be taken against profiteers. He issued these instructions through video link while presiding over a meeting of all divisional commissioners regarding price control.

Secretary Food Irfan Ali, Secretary Industry Arif Baloch, Secretary Labour Ishrat Ali and DCO Lahore as well as senior officers attended the meeting. During the briefing, Acting Chief Secretary was told that petrol and diesel are being sold at the prices fixed by the government and action is being taken against violators. It was told that petrol pumps are being monitored on daily basis and transport fares have further been reduced.

The meeting was told that in case of complaint, action is being taken against transporters. It was told that sale of essential items including fruits, vegetables and meat is being ensured at fixed prices and banners carrying toll free numbers have also been displayed by the government at prominent places on which citizens can lodge their complaints.

The meeting was told that one crore rupees was imposed as a fine to the transporters on overcharging during last one month. Similarly, shopkeepers selling vegetables and fruits on higher prices were imposed fine and arrested.

DCO Lahore told that action has been taken against dealers selling LPG on higher prices and besides imposing fine, arrests were also made so that sale of essential items could be ensured at fixed prices.
