Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has given approval for the recruitment of doctors in district and tehsil headquarters hospitals on adhoc basis to overcome the shortage of doctors in these hospitals. The posts of medical officers, women medical officers and specialists will be filled through adhoc appointments.
It was disclosed by the Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik while presiding over a meeting here today. Special Secretary Health Salman Mufti, Director General Health Dr. Zahid Pervez, Deputy Secretary Adnan Zafar, Deputy Secretary Raja Mansoor and other officers attended the meeting. DG Health informed that applications have been invited from the candidates and advertisement is also been published in the newspapers for this purpose.
Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik directed that instructions be issued to the administration of DHQ and THQ hospitals and District Recruitment Committees accordingly. He said that all recruitments will be done purely on merit basis. He said that preference should be given to the doctors of the same district so that they could serve their people with dedication.
Secretary Health further said that hundreds vacant posts of doctors will be filled within a short period of time which would help to overcome the shortage of doctors. This will improve the working of the hospitals and provide relief to the patients.
