Punjab Social Services Board organizes a ceremony in the honour of volunteers

Minister Education 2 Minister Education 1Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education and Youth Affairs Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan has said that the spirit of selfless service for the welfare of the humanity is the basic quality of a good Muslim. He said that Pakistan is such a great country where people spend more money than any country of the world annually for the welfare of the people. He said that these people are well-wishers of the aggrieved people and the entire nation should salute them.

He said this while addressing a Punjab volunteer convention arranged by Punjab Social Services Board at Alhamra Lahore today. He said that the people helping others in distress are blessing of Almighty Allah for the country whereas a good government should be the biggest “volunteer”. He said that Punjab government is ready to provide all possible facilities to the welfare organizations working for the service to ailing humanity in Punjab. He said that the task of spreading education, providing health facilities at door step and eliminating poverty, disease, unemployment and price-hike cannot be accomplished till such time we have not the support of selfless persons working voluntarily.

Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said on the occasion that government has taken practical steps for the welfare of downtrodden people of the society particularly special persons so that they could make progress in any section of life according to their own choice. Prominent scholar and analyst Oriya Maqbool Jan said that our nation has always supported their brethren in distress during flood, natural calamity and army operations against terrorists. Chairperson Punjab Social Services Board Kiran Dar and other assembly members presented shields to the members of welfare organizations in recognition of their social services.

Meanwhile, Rana Mashud Ahmad distributed certificates among the volunteers on the completion of a 5-day training programme of volunteers “caravan” arranged by a youth organization “Youth Advocacy Network”. He also appreciated the efforts of President Advocacy Network Fasahat ul Hassan, Executive Director Qaisar Runja and Associate Director Advocates for Youth Aruj Irshad. Provincial Minister also discussed various proposals of young volunteers from Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, Multan and Peshawar with them.
