Ex-servicemen welcomes appointment of Justice Raza as CEC

Rawalpindi : The Pakistan Ex-servicemen Association (PESA) has welcomed appointment of Justice Sardar Raza Khan as new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). He is a man of integrity and held is held in high esteem for giving judgments based on law and his convictions.

In a statement issued here today, PESA hoped that CEC will utilize all his capabilities and strengths to restore peoples’ confidence in impartiality of the Election Commission. It is expected that he will carry out an analysis of the irregularities highlighted in draft report that was released by the Election Commission on its website recently. He is also expected to co-operate fully with Judicial Commission whenever it starts its investigations about irregularities alleged to have been committed during the last General Elections.

PESA has also expressed satisfaction at the successful visit of the Army Chief to USA. It is hoped that this visit will ultimately help in bringing peace and stability in the region soon.

It expressed concern about the welfare and resettlement of the civilian population uprooted due this war. Future of the next generation is at stake. Government of Pakistani must take immediate steps to re-establish efficient and effective civil administration in tribal areas and help restore and strengthen their traditional system of local leadership.
