Islamabad: Social and political activist Raja Jahangir Akhtar who is on a hunger strike unto death on Friday asked ANP to stop opposing Kalabagh dam (KBD) as Pakistan will become a failed state in its absence. We have no future sans KBD and it is imperative from stopping country to enter Stone Age, he said.
Raja Jahangir Akhtar said that land for KBD should not be purchased from Pakhtoon brethren, rather mega project should be completed on public private partnership basis and locals should get 40 per cent of the annual income generated by the dam. He said that KBD is the only option for development without which country will become a desert.
He asked PM Nawaz Sharif, Leader of the opposition Khurshid Shah and PTI Chief Imran Khan to present and get approved an amendment bill for clause 161 which has barred profit to the province having reservoir resulting in opposition to the dams.
