Vice Chair of Development Committee Nirij Deva calls on CM Punjab

Lahore: Member European Parliament and Vice Chair of Development Committee Nirij Deva met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here today. Matters relating to bilateral relations and cooperation of skills development and potable water sectors were discussed in the meeting.

Member European Parliament expressed interest in investment in drinking water and skill development sector in Punjab. The Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion said that there is a vast scope of progress in skill development sector after granting of GSP Plus status to Pakistan. He said that Punjab government will welcome cooperation of European Parliament in skill development.He said that government is implementing a comprehensive programme of skill development programme with the collaboration of British Department for International Development.

Shahbaz Sharif said that imparting of skills to the youth in accordance with the market need is a challenge. He said that the scope of skill development programme has been extended to 18 districts of the province.

The Chief Minister said that planning has been made for the provision of clean water to every citizen. He said that the interest shown by European Parliament in investment in pilot project of potable water is welcome. He said that Punjab government will work with European Parliament in these sectors. Member European Parliament Nirij Deva said that all out cooperation will be extended to the Punjab government in skill development and drinking water sectors. He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is taking effective measures for progress and prosperity of the people of Punjab including Lahore. He said that commendable efforts have been made in the province for utilization of resources on the masses.

Nirij Deva said that he was pleased to see the progress made by Punjab. Provincial Minister for Industry Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Secretaries of Industries, Irrigation, Housing, Planning & Development and Chief Executive Officer Punjab Information Technology Board were also present on the occasion.
