Punjab University Child Welfare Center celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities

PU PULahore: Punjab University Child Welfare Center (CWC) organized an event to celebrate the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities” on Wednesday at CWC.

Dean Faculty of Education Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar, renowned social worker Raja Munawar, Principal CWC Ayesha Wajiullah, Incharge Chairperson Department of Special Education Dr Humaira Bano, special students, their parents and teachers attended the ceremony. In her address, Dr Mumtaz said that special children deserved more love and care.

She said despite physical, visual, hearing or mental limitations, they could easily understand and communicate their messages. She congratulated CWC for arranging such a good program for special person for creating awareness among the teacher, parents and society. She announced honorarium of Rs 15,000 for the teachers of disabled students from her own pocket.

Raja Munawar said that they were not special children but super children because they were an important part of our society. He donated Rs 20,000 for the welfare of special children. The special children also presented tableau and national songs on the occasion.
