Government and the PTI to avoid confrontation : Siraj ull Haq

Siraj ul HaqLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has counseled the government and the PTI to avoid confrontation that could lead to chaos as this would be in the interest of the both parties.

Talking to a delegation from his election constituency that called on him at Al-Markaz Peshawar on Friday, he said that the  JI was a democratic party and had always strived for the promotion of democratic norms. However, he said that unfortunately the voters’ confidence in the ballot box had been badly shaken.

The JI chief said that he would announce a road map for building the country into a truly Islamic, welfare state , at the Mazar e Quaid, Karachi, on December 25 next.

Sirajul Haq said that so far, the government had not set up a commission to probe into the riggings in elections in fulfillment of its promise. He said if the government did not honour its commitment to introduce electoral reforms for making the elections free, fair and transparent, the masses would not accept the results of the future elections and the democratic system in the country would be badly shaken.

Sirajul Haq urged the government and the PTI to adopt the policy of tolerance for each other and try to settle issues with cool mind and through argument, avoiding hate speech.   He also counseled the government to avoid placing restrictions on the peaceful public meeting of the PTI on 30th as arrests of the PTI workers would aggravate the situation. He said the leadership of the both parties should avoid pushing the situation to the point of no return and should try to settle all issues through dialogue.

JI provincial chief, Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, General Secretary Shabbir Ahmed Khan and deputy provincial chief Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, were also present.
