Knowledge creators ruling the world: PU VC

PULahore: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that all those nations are ruling the world who are focusing on education and creating new knowledge. He was addressing the orientation ceremony held for newly admitted students of PU Oriental College at Sherani Hall, Old Campus here on Wednesday.

PU Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Asmatullah Zahid, Dr Mazhar Moin, Dr Syed Akram Shah, Dr Khawaja Zakria, Dr Moeen Nizami, Dr Muhammad Kamran, Dr Qamar Ali Zaidi and Dr Nusrat Yasmin Nisar, faculty members and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujahid Kamran said that the Western nations were following the lesson of 1/8th part of holy Quran which stressed to focus on resolving the mysteries of universe and that’s why they were ruling the universe and the West was getting the reward because of making inventions. He said that the Muslims were facing problems because they have no share in creation of new knowledge. He said the concentration of wealth was bone of contention in the world and a cabal of banking families had made it possible through introduction of system of usury, which had been prohibited by both Islam and Christianity.

He said that these families wanted to establish one world government and enforced wars. He said that an Australian Jewish medical doctor and researcher Gideon Polya had revealed in his book “Body Count” that there had been 1.3 billion avoidable deaths during the period from 1950 to 2005 of which 600 million were Muslims and a “silent genocide” of Muslims was continuing. He said that civilizations and languages played important role in the lives of nations. He advised the students to adopt reading habits and master their subjects.

Addressing the ceremony, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Asmatullah Zahid said that the college enjoyed splendid traditions and had distinction in research on oriental languages. He thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for eliminating negative politics from the university and providing excellent academic environment. He said that the college now had made available 90 thousand books online out of one hundred thousand. He advised the students to take benefit of learned faculty members and outshine in their relevant fields.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr Naheed Shahid presented brief historical review of Oriental College while heads of various departments introduced their departments, faculty members and employees. Earlier, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran inaugurated the newly renovated library of Oriental College.
