Rehabilitation of flood affectees is the top priority of the government: Col. Shuja Khanzada

Lahore: Provincial Home Minister & Chairman Cabinet Committee on Flood Affectees Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada has said that rehabilitation of flood affectees is the top priority of the government and all out resources are being utilized for this purpose.

He was presiding over a meeting to review the steps taken for rehabilitation of flood affectees at Committee Room of Civil Secretariat today. Spokesman Punjab Government Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha MPA, Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema, Senior Member Board of Revenue Nadeem Ashraf and all cCM Assistant for Livestockoncerned secretaries attended the meeting. The Minister said that instructions have been issued to District Coordination Officers of the affected districts to take all possible steps for compensating the losses of houses and crops caused by the flood.

Col. (Retd.) Shuja Khanzada said that the second phase of historical package of Rs.16 billion has been started and pay orders of financial assistance to 38 thousand flood affectees has been issued on November 11 which can be got encashed from National Bank of Pakistan, Bank of Punjab, Habib Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank and United Bank within 60 days.

Provincial Minister further said that in the light of survey reports conducted by different teams, an amount of Rs.80 thousand is being given as compensation for completely house, Rs.40 thousand for partially damaged house, Rs.10 thousand per acre to the farmers having land upto 12.5 acres and Rs.10 thousand to each poor affected family under rozgar support programme.

Participants of the meeting reviewed progress of provision of financial assistance to the affectees and expressed complete satisfaction over the steps being taken for early rehabilitation of the flood affectees.
