A poor man could not even get his FIR registered with the police, and even if he succeeded in that, he could not get justice from the courts. The masses were treated as animals. The people in power had been amassing billions through unlawful means and transferring their wealth to foreign banks while the poverty stricken people had to face price hike and unemployment.

Hinting at the poor policy making of the rulers, he said that it was the practice in this country to appoint an illiterate legislator as Education Minister whereas another jewel who had not seen the wheat plant in his life time, was assigned the portfolio of agriculture.

He said it was unfortunate that politics had been turned into trade as one who won an Assembly seat by spending lakhs on election campaign, amassed billions through unlawful means. He said the JI would start a campaign for the completion of the Pakistan Movement.

The JI chief said that the secular elements, on the bidding of the west, wanted to convert this country into a secular state although the Quaid e Azam, on more than one hundred occasion, had stated in clear terms that the Holy Quran would be the constitution of Pakistan and that this country had been achieved to serve as the laboratory for the Islamic system.

Sirajul Haq expressed deep gratitude to the Lahore District bar for according him a hearty welcome. “By giving this honour to the son of a worker, you have raised the heads of all workers with pride. This means that although the doors of education, health, employment and power are closed to the poor, the doors of the Aiwan e Adal are open to them.”

Replying to a question on the prevailing political situation, the JI chief said that the government would suffer if the talks were not resumed. He said that the Supreme Court Commission to probe into rigging should be set up at the earliest. He said  the inclusion of ISI and MI representatives in the Commission was a minor issue, and the main issue was that the Commission should be set up immediately so that the enquiry could begin.

Earlier, the Lahore District Bar President Ch. Muhammad Ishtiaq, in his welcome address to the JI chief, said the rise of Sirajul Haq  from a poor man to the present status implied that nothing could obstruct the advance of honesty and truth.  He assured the JI chief of full participation of the bar members in the JI Ijtema and

said the lawyers community would stand shoulder to shoulder with him for the supremacy of the constitution and the law.
