Sit-ins caused serious damage to the growing economy: Ahsan Iqbal

Ahsan IqbalLahore: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal has said that politics of sit-ins caused a loss of billion of rupees to the national economy. Talking to media at Institute of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) here on Sunday, the minister said that PTI Chief Imran Khan was actually frightened of loosing his votes in general election 2018 as he knew the projects started by the government would complete successfully.

Ahsan Iqbal said that politics of sit-ins could be termed as economic terrorism as every nation wanted economic stability. He said that World Bank, Moody’s, Asian Development Bank and others international insititutions had already lauded the one year
performance of Pakistan and said the country was moving on right direction of progress. He said the image created by Imran Khan harmed the country adding that people have turned down Imran Khan’s conspiracies.

The minister said PTI Chief had created wrong image that projects under Pak-China Economic corridor were only for Punjab,
“Imran should answer about Karot Hydropower project, Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park in Cholistan, Energy Park in Thar whether these were for Punjab?, minister questioned. Ahsan Iqbal said that incumbent government has never made discrimination among provinces for launching development projects and PML-N government was focusing on starting projects with less cost for ensuring maximum progress of the country. He said that government was also working on cost rationalization of different projects so that unnecessary cost could be cut down.

The minister said that Roshan Pakistan, Naya Pakistan could only be made if the challenges facing the country could be handled unitedly. He said that Imran Khan should get a noble prize for collecting charity.
The sit-ins badly affected the labourers and farmers and even the export industry suffered a lot. He said that the present government would make all out efforts for making the country financially strong by following the Prime Minister’s economic agenda.
