Lahore: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has arranged a colorful puppet show at the mausoleum of legendary Punjabi Sufi poet Waris Shah in Jandiala Sher Khan, a small town near Sheikhupura, today. The show was organized in collaboration with a private NGO ‘Maqsad.’
The purpose of this puppet show was to sensitize the private school owners as well as parents and children about the importance of education in development and how people can change and improve the quality of life through education. Various puppet characters highlighted the role and significance of schooling for the children.
PEF Deputy Director (Com.) Aruj Salman also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the PEF efforts in promotion of school education in the disfranchised segments of the society. She told that expansion phase-13 of Education Voucher Scheme (EVS) has already been launched to arrange free education for the needy children in six different districts including Sheikhupura. She asked the private school owners to apply for partnership.
Manager Waris Shah Memorial Complex Muhammad Ehsan ul Malik Khan also spoke on the occasion and said that PEF is espousing the noble cause of education which is a wonderful job. Education ensures social equality and this is the same message which was enunciated by the Sufi Saints.
PEF communication team also distributed booklets and brochures about the PEF sponsored free education programs among the audience.
CEO of ‘Maqsad’ Ms. Mehwish Shoukat along with PEF Assistant Directors Maik Zahid & Ehsan ul Haq also attended the puppet show.
