Over a dozen IJT workers attack car of Ayesha Hakeem

PULahore: Over a dozen workers of  “Islami” Jamiat Talaba on Friday attacked car of Ayesha Hakeem, female faculty member of Institute of Communication Studies and daughter-in-law of former PU Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Amin Athar at 7:45am near hostel number 14 when she was on the way to drop her husband Awais at his office.

According to PU spokesman, over a dozen of IJT activists who were already ambushing near the exit gate of the hostel forcibly stopped their car and asked them to come out by hurling life threats. On not doing so, IJT activists tried to open the doors of the car which were locked upon which they brutally attacked the car with hockey and clubs. The front screen before Ayesha Hakeem and Mr Awais and the bonnet were severely damaged while window of the side door got broken. Several other parts of the car also got damaged. However, the boarders managed to flee the car while around 3 IJT activists followed them for some distance on a motorcycle. It is pertinent to mention here that PU Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Amin Athar has recently left the charge of university registrar and he has also chaired various disciplinary committees.

Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has strongly condemned attack on female faculty member Ayesha Hakeem by activists of Islami Jamiat Talaba. In a press statement, Dr Mujahid Kamran said that it felt that Jamiat in Punjab University had become irredeemable. He said that IJT members instead of following the instructions of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) had adopted the way of torture. PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran has also summoned emergency meeting of heads of all departments on Monday at 11am at Al Raazi Hall.

An emergency meeting of faculty members of Punjab University Institute of Communication Studies presided over by its incharge Dr Noshina Saleem passed a unanimous resolution condemning attack on the car of female lecturer Ayesha Hakeem here on Friday. The meeting demanded of Inspector General of Punjab Police and CCPO Lahore to instantaneously take notice of the incident and take stern action against the culprits involved in the attack.
