Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the rights of farmers will be protected and immediate payment of dues to sugarcane growers from sugar mills will be ensured at every cast. He said that politics of sit-ins and protest has destroyed the economy and caused irreparable loss to the country. He said that those staging sit-ins have committed enmity with the country and the nation under a conspiracy. He said that the nefarious design of those pushing the country into darkness has been exposed. The Chief Minister reiterated that the loss caused to country and the nation due to sit-in will be made up through hard work, devotion, dedication and commitment. He said that flood has caused huge loss in districts of Faisalabad division and other areas. Shahbaz Sharif said that he did not see such a massive destruction due to flood in his political career. He said that thousands of human lives were saved due to timely steps by Punjab government. He said that Provincial Ministers, public representatives, administration and concerned departments worked round the clock during flood and displayed excellent performance in rescue and relief operation.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of Members Provincial Assembly of Faisalabad Division here today. Provincial Ministers, Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretaries of concerned departments, RPO Faisalabad, DCO Faisalabad and concerned officials attended the meeting.
Shahbaz Sharif said that due to sit-ins, important visit of President of our neighboring and friendly country was postponed. He said that not only agreements of energy projects and investment of billions of dollars had to be made but foundation stones of a number of projects were to laid but due to sit-ins and protest politics, these important projects of development of the country were delayed. The Chief Minister said that contact has been made with Prime Minister and his government regarding over billing of electricity and expressed the hope that the problem will soon be resolved. He said that corruption free culture has been promoted in the province that all development projects are being completed speedily and in a transparent manner. He said that credit goes to PML(N) government that no scam of corruption is against it.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is country of us all and we will make collective efforts for its development and prosperity. He said that the process of payment of first installment of financial assistance to flood affectees has been completed speedily and in a transparent manner. He said that the provision of second installment will be started from October 20 by accessing the losses caused to houses and crops on the basis of survey. The Chief Minister directed that holding of monthly meetings with regard to law and order, education, health, portable water and development projects should be ensured in every district. He said that Irrigation Department should take effective steps for eradication of canal water theft. Shahbaz Sharif said that action should be taken against criminals and drugs dens without any discrimination. He said that supremacy of merit has been ensured in the province and its violation will not be tolerated at any cast.
The Chief Minister directed that immediate steps should be taken for filling the vacant posts of doctors in the hospitals. He said that Advisor on Health Kh. Salman Rafiq and Secretary Health should visit hospitals of districts of Faisalabad division tomorrow.
