Lahore: “Pensioner’s Day” will be celebrated in all Regional Offices of Ombudsman Punjab, established at each district of the province, on Wednesday, October 15 while Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood will personally supervise all the activities of the day. Wazir Ahmad Qureshi, Incharge “Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell”, will organize Khuli Kucheri on “Pensioner’s Day” at 09:00 AM at Lahore likewise advisors of concerned Regional Offices at all districts will also make special arrangements in this regard and welcome pensioners and retired employees of Punjab Government on 15th October.
Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood while declaring 15th of every month as “Pensioner’s Day” in all offices of Ombudsman in Punjab, issued notification mentioning that in case of holiday on 15th, “Pensioner’s Day” will be celebrated on the next working day. Representatives of Accountant General Punjab & Benevolent Fund will also attend Pensioner’s Day to cooperate in solving the long standing pensionary issues of the retired employees.
Decision to celebrate “Pensioner’s Day” on every 15th is infact an acknowledgement aiming at to extend respect, honour and relief to the retired employees who dedicated their youth and golden period of life to serve the nation and country. “The pensioners are not merely retired civil servants but also senior citizens of the country and I have only done my duty by dedicating a day to resolve their issues”, says Ombudsman Punjab. There is no need to visit Lahore for redressal of grievances of pensioners now as the office of Advisor to Ombudsman Punjab at each district is fully functional to receive complaints and pensioners should give a chance to concerned advisor to serve them.
Offices of Ombudsman Punjab have been set up at district level aiming at to outreach the public and give them relief at their door step, said the Ombudsman Punjab. He has also directed Pension Sanctioning Authorities to extend cooperation to “Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell” for speedy redressal of grievances of the pensioners. Ombudsman Punjab has also warned the Pension Sanctioning Authorities to refrain from flouting the Presidential Orders, Judgments of Supreme Court and Pension Rules of the Punjab Government to award the pensionary benefits to retiring employees without delay.
