Narendra Modi sent flood to end sit ins:Ch Pervaiz Elahi

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that the rulers had done nothing in 15 years for safety from flood whereas we had constructed 28 small dams only in Pothohar area during our in five years tenure and made reservoir projects all over Punjab for storing rivers water. If these were not stopped by them then such massive devastation would not have occurred. Problems were solved through wisdom and not by pride and enmity.

Because of this attitude of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif no confidence was showed in them by “Go Nawaz Go” slogans everywhere but they were taking action against officers for hiding their incompetence and mismanagement and anger over anti-slogans which was yet another great oppression.

Talking to media after distribution of ration also on Monday during visit to various villages ravaged by river Chenab flood and distribution of ration among the flood-hit people, Ch Parvez Elahi said that because of its ego and enmity the govt was ignoring our party Pakistan Muslim League affectees but we would personally continue to provide help to them.

He said that 90 per cent problems in the country were due to Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, every person was praying for end of their govt because of dearness, unemployment and now such massive devastation caused by flood, they were only worried about their govt and not the masses at large.

Ch Parvez Elahi further said that it seemed that on asking of Nawaz Sharif for getting ride of sit-ins, Narendra Modi had sent flood, they were very much pained by sit-ins which had snatched away their sleep and peace of mind, they had no policy no vision, we had got constructed 28 small dams in Pothohar area which helped in making thousands of acres of barren land cultivable besides safety from flood whereas we spent Rs 4 billion every year on construction and repairs of protective embankments, due to reconstruction of Taunsa Barrage 11 lakh cusecs of water had passed through it easily but they had totally ignored repairs and renovation of our constructed and old embankments and sunk the Punjab.

He said because of defective policies of Shahbaz Sharif when people were not getting medicines in flood-hit areas then how animals would get them ?, they were doing topi drama in helicopters for photo sessions, even if Justice Mansoor Commission Report about 2010 flood had been partly implemented then today such devastation would not have been caused, those responsible for such devastation had been given promotions, had he been the Chief Minister he would not only would have given remission of loans and taxes but also fully compensated the farmers and other effected people. He said had they not been senseless and released water from Mangla Dam etc after receiving advance information then such vast destruction would have been minimized to a great extent.

Ch Parvez Elahi said further that the govt was ignoring pro-PML flood effected people and also not doing anything in areas where we had secured majority but we would personally continue to provide them all possible help and assistance. He said had there been our govt then farmer, province and Pakistan would have been prosperous, during our tenure the Punjab Govt was paying half bill of agricultural tube-wells, we were providing fertilizers at cheaper rates, “today I am afraid the farmers will be getting neither cheaper fertilizer nor electricity”.
