JI slates arrests of PTI, PAT workers

ameer ji sirajul haq addresing a press conf in islamabadLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has reacted to the arrests of the PTI and PAT workers and said the government was negating the efforts of the opposition Jirga for peace with the protesters.

The JI chief demanded immediate release of Azam Swati and other workers of the two parties and urged the government to make sincere efforts for resolving  the situation through dialogue. He said the arrests would only worsen the situation and damage the efforts for truce between the two sides.

Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has impressed upon the government , the PTI and the PAT to give up intransigence and step forward for resolving the on going political crisis in the interest of the country and the democratic system.

Addressing a gathering of traders from Gulberg area, he said that the political crisis had prolonged too much and was now taking on the nerves of the people and had also shattered the country’s economy.

The JI Secretary General said that the statement from the ISPR regarding the armed forces non interference in politics and support to the democratic system was both encouraging as well as a warning. He said that since all other demands of the protesting parties had been met, the whole process should not be sabotaged on the single point of Prime Minister’s resignation.

He slated the arrests made in Islamabad said this had created bitterness. However, he said that the Opposition Jirga would play its positive role.

Liaqat Baloch also condemned the overbilling of electricity by WAPDA. He said the residents of the slums had been sent bills for Lakhs which reflected the efficiency of the WAPDA.

The JI Secretary General will visit Thar on Sunday and address a public meting at Mithi.

Meanwhile,The planning committee of the Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan will meet here at Mansoora, tomorrow, Sunday wih the committee chairman and JI deputy chief Rashid Naseem in the chair.

The committee will plan the preaching, training programmes of the Jamaat
