Lahore: Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar, on Wednesday, visited Head Sidhnai on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and inspected the flood situation minutely. Officials of district administration were also with him on this occasion. DG SBP issued imperative directions to local officials to cope with the crucial situation.
Later, he also inspected the relief camps in the localities of Jalal Shagla, Haveli Tara, Hill Fitiana and 761 GB. He supervised the work of food and tent distribution among the flood-stricken people. DG SBP also instructed officials concerned to arrange the drugs for animals.
Usman Anwar told the media that 20 villages have been evacuated after the severe flood threat in the region. “The food, tents and other necessities have been provided to the affected people. The Punjab Government is doing every possible effort to save the people from highly dangerous flood,” he said.
He informed that all the government machinery has been taking active part in rehabilitation activities. He asked the people to cooperate with govt officials in this gigantic task and move from dangerous areas as early as possible. “A great human and monetary loss has been averted in district Toba Tek Singh following some timely measures,” he added.
Meanwhile,minister for agriculture Punjab Dr Farrukh Javaid visited the flood hit areas of Zafarwal and monitored the rescue and relief activities .He directed the administration to improve the pace of rescue work and provision of food items to the affected people. The minister also inspected the flood relief and medical camps of Zafarwal and Badhoo Mali.
