Lahore: Provincial Minister for Finance and Excise & Taxation Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman has directed provincial authorities and officers of district administration that in addition to relief activities for the flood affectees, losses caused by flood should also be evaluated so that compensation could be provided to the victims as early as possible.
He was presiding over a high level meeting to review the damage caused by floods. Member Provincial Assembly Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Senior Member Board of Revenue Nadeem Ashraf, Secretary Finance Jehanzeb Khan and provincial secretaries and senior officials of Health Irrigation, Livestock, Communication & Works, Planning & Development, PDMA and other departments were also present.
Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman said that damage to roads, crops, houses and other buildings should be assessed as soon as possible. He directed health authorities to provide medical facilities and medicines to the flood affectees as well as take measures for controlling outbreak of diseases. He directed Livestock Department to take steps for protection of cattle against diseases.
He said that provincial departments should remain fully alert during floods and after receding of water and take all possible measures for the protection of livestock, property and health of the calamity-hit people.
