Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has assigned the responsibilities of coordination to Provincial Ministers belonging to Lahore for compensation of losses caused due to heavy rains in various areas of Lahore and rehabilitation of infrastructure. The ministers will supervise the rehabilitation operation in nine towns and the officers of concerned federal and provincial departments will be answerable for repair of rain affected roads, rain nullahs, supply of electricity and sewerage system.
This was disclosed by Provincial Minister for Law & Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan during a meeting of officers of development departments at his constituency PP-149 Gulshan-e-Ravi Lahore today. He told the meeting that the Chief Minister Punjab has assigned him the duty of Samnabad Town and Allama Iqbal Town and has issued instructions that MPAs of both these towns will submit him report daily that which federal or provincial department is not extending cooperation in early rehabilitation of infrastructure affected due to rain.
He told that 31 dewatering pumps are working for drainage of rain water from grounds and houses of the people of both these towns whereas two additional dewatering pumps have been provided for Azam Garden and Gulshan-e-Ravi. Law Minister directed WASA officials to work in three shifts for drainage of rain water.
