Secretary Irrigation reviews aabiana rate and unpaid amount by Kissan organizations

Lahore: Secretary Irrigation Punjab & Managing Director PIDA Capt. Retd. Saif Anjum has directed that the lists of aabiana defaulters should be prepared at the earliest so that hundred per cent recovery of government dues could be ensured. He warned that legal action will be taken against those not achieving the targets of aabiana recovery.

He said this while addressing a monthly performance meeting of Punjab Irrigation & Drainage Authority. General Manager (TM) Afzal Anjum Toor, General Manager (Operation) Mian Abdul Rasheed, Deputy General Manager (Social Mobilization) Syed Shahid Hussain Abidi, Chief Executives of Area Water Boards and concerned officers attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed in detail the aabiana rate and unpaid amount by Kissan organizations. The meeting decided that the agreement of aabiana recovery by PIDA will be made with the Chairman Water Channel Panchait and concerned Lumberdar to ensure recovery of government dues. The meeting also decided to take action against government officials and Kissan organizations showing negligence in aabiana recovery and protection of canal assets.

MD PIDA directed General Managers to ensure effective monitoring of process of institutional reforms so that the success of reforms programme could be ensured. He further said that Chief Executives and Chairmen of all Area Water Boards should ensure their participation in the next meeting so that the process of reforms in canal sector could be accelerated.

Saif Anjum further said that effective steps should be taken for recovery of aabiana of current crops besides ensuring supply of water at tail ends and eradication of water theft. He said that complete lists of aabiana defaulters should be provided in the next meeting so that district administration could recover the government dues.  He also directed to prepare ransom cases at the earliest.
