Lahore: Provincial Minister for Special Education Asif Saeed Manhais has said that government has allocated 800 million rupees in the budget of current financial year for the welfare of the special children.
He said this while presiding over a high level meeting held at the Secretariat of Education Department here today. Director Special Education Faazil Cheema, Deputy Director Shahid Abbas and other officers attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed in detail 5-year departmental schemes. These schemes included construction and repair of buildings and up-gradation of schools.
Provincial Minister said that government is taking all possible steps for the rehabilitation of special children so that they could discharge their responsibilities themselves instead of becoming burden on the society. He said that Special Education Department has taken a number of steps for the rehabilitation and education of special children and making them useful citizens of the society.
Asif Saeed Manhais directed that regular monitoring of the departmental schemes should be carried out and after completion these schemes should also be reviewed. He stressed upon well-to-do people to lend helping hand to the government for the education and training of special children so that they could lead their life like normal children.
Secretary Special Education Ambreen Raza gave a detailed briefing to the Provincial Minister about departmental schemes.
