Lahore: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) have declared the demand for the resignation of the Prime Minister and sit-in (dharna) both were in accordance with the constitutional rights.
Both lawyers organizations office-bearers expressed these views while leading delegation of prominent lawyers during meeting with Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi at their residence in Islamabad today. During the meeting, detailed discussion was held regarding prevailing political situation in the country.
Delegation included SCBA President Kamran Murtaza, Secretary Asif Mahmud Cheema, Pakistan Bar Council Vice-Chairman Muhammad Ramzan Chaudhary, President High Court Bar Association Multan Syed Athar Hussain Bokhari, Mushtaq Awan, Rafaqat Kahloon, Muhammad Jamil Awan and Syed Saquib Bokhari also while PML Senator Kamil Ali Agha and Senior Vice-President Muhammad Basharat were also present.
Lawyers leaders endorsed that the demand for the resignation of the Prime Minister and sit-in (dharna) for expression of views were in accordance with the rights enshrined in the Constitution. Emphasizing on the immediate registration of the FIR of massacre in Model Town tragedy, they said that justice would be secured for the effected persons of the tragedy and the lawyers’ community would play its role in provision of justice. They said that they fully supported the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution and freedom of expression.
