Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development Department, Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that government has taken important steps for resolving the problems of the women and including them in national mainstream.
She expressed these views while addressing as chief guest the launching ceremony of toll free helpline 0800-93372 under the aegis of Provincial Women Development Department and DAI-EDACE at Royal Palm Golf and Country Club, here today. Secretary Iram Bukhari, senior officers, Zahid Elahi and Nadeem Elahi of EDACE and others were present on the occasion.
Women Development Department and partner institutions apprised the participants about lodge complaints through toll free helpline, their solution and monitoring system for resolving the problems of the women throughout the province.
Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din said that after its establishment, Women Development Department is making efforts for resolving the problems of the women and it has made important measures for including the women in mainstream of social development in women package 2012 and 2014, and giving them 33 percent in all sectors and institutions.
She said that setting up of toll free helpline is need of the hour and women belonging to far-flung areas will also get their complaint lodged about any institution and department through toll free number. She said that Women Development Department and partner institutions will resolve the complaints of women under a laid down mechanism.
She said that government is endeavoring for resolving the problems of the women and making them empowered economically so that they could play their active role in the development of the country. She said that after the establishment of Rozgar banks, 30 per cent quota will be reserved for women in them. She said that three more bills will be presented in Punjab Assembly for protection of women this year.
Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din stressed upon concerned officers to inform women of their respective areas about toll free helpline and take immediate steps for resolving their problems so that they could benefit from fruits of government measures.
