Lahore: The Punjab Governor, Ch. Muhammad Sarwar and Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, at a joint press conference held at Mansoora Saturday afternoon impressed upon the parties to demonstrate a highly positive attitude in order to pull the country out of the present critical situation.
Talking to newsmen after a detailed meeting with the Governor, the JI chief said that the overall attitude of PTI chief Imran Khan and PAT chairman Tahir ul Qadri had been positive and they had specially directed their workers to remain peaceful. The government, the ministers and the politicians should review their attitude in order to avoid tension and confrontation. The two sides should begin dialogue for resolving the issues through mutual understanding and they should be careful of the elements trying to add fuel to fire, he added.
Siraj ul Haq said it was the demand of the nation that the elections system be made transparent and it was the responsibility of the political leadership to devise an election system wherein there was no chance of rigging. He also supported the genuine demands of the PAT chief. He expressed the hope that the national leadership would be able to steer the country out of the crisis.
The Governor, Ch. Muhammad Sarwar, commended the role of the JI chief in uniting the national leadership and seeking a solution of the political crisis through negotiations. He said that except for a few points, there was national consensus on all the demands put forth by the JI, Imran Khan or other parties. He said that the elimination of poverty, unemployment and lawlessness and resolving the energy crisis were the demands of the entire nation.
The Governor also lauded JI’s role in promoting the Islamic teachings all over the world, and said the JI had rendered commendable services for strengthening the association of the younger generation with Islam and Pakistan.
A set of the writings of JI deputy chief Hafiz Muhammad Idrees was presented to the Governor on the occasion.
