Lahore: In a joint declaration issued by Ulema, Mashaikh and other religious leaders in Istehkam-e-Pakistan Conference arranged by Provincial Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department in connection with Independence Day at Aiwan-e-Auqaf today, it has been stated that the role of Ulema and other religious personalities as well as leaders of other religions in the creation and stability of Pakistan is a glorious chapter of our history. Ulema, Mashaikh and other religious personalities have always been playing and will continue to play their key role for national solidarity, stability of the country, sectarian and religious harmony and overall law and order in the prevailing situation of the country.
It has further been stated in the declaration that the political and economic situation of the country demands that besides national reconciliation and consultation, process of protection against internal confrontation be continued. The national and international situation demands that all political and religious leaders should leave protest politics and make contacts and joint efforts more effective and result-oriented by promoting the politics of dialogues and reconciliation and a comprehensive and effective policy should be evolved in the larger national interest by discussing all important matters in the parliament. It was said in the declaration that this representative meeting assures Punjab government and government of Pakistan that we all are fully aware of the demands of national security and defence of motherland. They congratulated Pakistan Army on its glorious success in the Operation Zarb-e-Azb and expressed solidarity with IDPs. We believe that the people of all religions and sects are united, they added. We pray for the souls of all those Pakistanis who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country and ridding the nation of terrorists. We also pray for the solidarity and stability of the country.
