Government departments will ensure compilation of data of deserving persons

Minister ZakatLahore: Punjab Minister for Zakat & Usher Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that all government departments will ensure compilation of data of deserving persons at one place so that financial assistance could only be provided to the genuine deserving persons. He said this while presiding over a meeting of a 9-member committee constituted on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister with regard to finalize the Amendment Bill of Punjab Zakat Usher Act 2014 at Punjab Assembly Committee Room, here today.

Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Assembly Members Dr. Aysha Ghaus Pasha, Ms Hina Pervez Butt, Secretary Zakat & Usher Habibur Rehman Gillai, Secretaries of local government, women development, law and parliamentary affairs departments were present on the occasion. Women assembly members stressed that the amount of Zakat given to deserving persons should be increased so such extent that they could live honourably.

The meeting decided that priority should be given to the disabled and blind persons at the time of distribution of zakat as they fully deserve for it. Provincial Minister said that provision of free training to the widow deserving zakat at vocational training institutes is being considered seriously so that they could earn their livelihood honourably after getting training in different skills.

Earlier, Secretary Zakat & Usher Habib ur Rehman Gillani gave a briefing about the amendment bill of Punjab Zakat Usher Act 2014 and thoroughly discussed all clauses of the Bill. Members of the committee after discussing the amendment bill in detail recommended for getting its final approval.
