Government is making every effort for the benefits of the masses: CM Punjab

CM PUNJABLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that government is making every effort to ensure that the common man should fully benefit from the Ramazan Package and flour, ghee, pulses sugar and other essential items are being provided to the citizens at concessionary rates through Ramazan bazaars. He directed provincial ministers, assembly members, secretaries and administrative officers to continue to pay regular visits to Ramazan bazaars.

He was addressing a meeting of Provincial Price Control Committee through video link. The Chief Minister said that the purpose of setting up of 345 Ramazan bazaars in the province is to provide relief to the people in the holy month of Ramazan. He said that provincial ministers and administrative officers are monitoring Ramazan bazaars on daily basis to ensure supply of essential items, vegetables and fruits to the people at cheaper rates. He said that he is also visiting Ramazan bazaars of various cities besides personally monitoring supply of essential commodities as well as their quality and prices under Ramazan package.

The Chief Minister said that the biggest Ramazan Package in the history of the province has been announced while a subsidy of five billion rupees has been given for the provision of subsidized flour in Ramazan bazaars and fair price shops. Shahbaz Sharif said that he gives top priority to the interest of the people and in view of this fact, stern action is being taken against hoarders and profiteers. He said that no one will be allowed to exploit the masses.

The Chief Minister directed Provincial Price Control Committee to keep a watchful eye on the prices and quality of essential items, fruits and vegetables and continue to take action without any discrimination against hoarders and profiteers. He said that quality of vegetables and fruits should also be improved in Ramazan bazaars as well as open market. He said that due to effective steps taken by the government, the prices of essential items have stabilized and supply of fruits, vegetables and other edible items have considerably improved in Ramazan bazaars. Provincial Ministers, Assembly Members and concerned officers attended the meeting.
