Government is extending all out cooperation to the investors: Mujtaba Shuja

Mujtaba Shuja ur RehmanLahore: Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation, Finance Punjab Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that government is extending all out cooperation to the investors for the promotion of industries and trade. He said that government is taking short-term and long-term measures in energy sector to minimize load-shedding and power plants are being set up in various parts of the province. He said that Punjab government has created vast opportunities for traders and industrialists especially to the foreign investors. He said that government has taken solid steps for the generation of electricity and load-shedding will be completely eliminated within four years when all units of the power plants which are in pipelines will become fully functional.

While talking to party workers at his residence, Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman said that Excise & Taxation Department earns 28 percent from property tax and 54 percent from motor vehicles tax, whereas it should be reversed and reason for low recovery of property tax is that survey of the property was conducted 14 years ago. He said that government has introduced reforms in tax collection machinery and latest technology was being introduced in the departments to increase the revenue.

Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman briefed the party workers that while expanding tax net and increasing tax, hardships of the common man are being kept in view and only affluent persons as well as rich sectors will be brought into tax net. He said that all the tax system of E&T department is being computerized so that everybody can get tax details on net and in result of transparency as well as proper supervision an amount of Rs.15 billion extra will be deposited in public exchequer. He said that government has levied taxes on affluent persons having luxury houses and large & expansive vehicles and income generated from taxes would be spent on low income peoples’ houses.
