Shah Mehmood Qureshi calls on Ch Shujaat Hussain

Lahore: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi under direction of party chief Imran Khan held talks with Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi at their residence here today and also conveyed his leader’s message to them.

Afterwards in the joint press conference, Shah Mahmoo Qureshi made a detailed mention of great rigging in the 2013 elections and said that both the parties have common thinking. He said that today’s exchange of views was very successful, positive and encouraging, there was commonality in thinking with PML leadership and uniformity on many points, we would move forward within constitutional limits.

Ch Shujat Hussain said on this occasion that those doing propaganda against us for bringing unconstitutional things to the fore and derailment of democracy should tell us where was democracy?, was this democracy that neither FIR had been registered nor anyone arrested on the murder of 15 persons whereas many persons were nabbed on one murder. He said Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) leader Dr Tahirul Qadri would be apprised about today’s talks.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that talks were held with Shah Mahmood Qureshi on various matters including Model Town tragedy and APC, democracy was the name of present rulers who were being derailed.

During the meeting PML leaders Tariq Bashir Cheema, Ch Zaheeruddin and Muhammad Basharat Raja were also present.

Ch Shujat Hussain further said that more propaganda was being done in the country presently whereas the reality was contrary to that, there was no democracy in the country as such, had there been democracy then Model Town tragedy would not have occurred.

Ch Parvez Elahi said during the meeting detailed exchange of views were held also in the context of Model Town tragedy and the APC, the rulers should name themselves as democracy and should murder 15 persons each in every district, neither any FIR would be registered against them nor any justice would be done because anyone raising voice against this brutality would be described as one derailing democracy. He said not democracy but these rulers whose name was democracy were being derailed, in the time to come all options would be deliberated according to the circumstances, presently no backdoor contacts were being held with any party.

PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that both PML and PTI had similar ideological thinking, nothing unconstitutional would be done, democracy was to be prevented from being derailed, both PTI and PML were on one page. He said that he had presented his party’s point of view and had come to their residence under direction of PTI Chairman Imran Khan with his message, there was commonality and mental uniformity on many points between the two parties, presently national political situation was changing rapidly, both parties had similar thinking on three points that 2013 elections were rigged, Election Commission could not play its positive role and protest should be done constitutionally and legally for securing own right. He said no justice was done anywhere against rigging in 2013 elections, N-League had resorted to biggest dacoity on the right of the people and for pulling the people out of crisis Imran Khan had given long march call for August 14 in which political parties, civil society and ordinary citizens would participate. He said we were being called as derailing democracy whereas our objective was to strengthen and consolidate democracy.

Later, Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi have said that we were striving to bring political parties on one page and in this regard headway was being made, all parties would have to be united and adopt unanimous line of action otherwise Model Town tragedy like incidents would continue to occur during the tenure of this govt which had come into power through rigging. We want to unite all parties on one point, they added.

They said this while talking to media after apprising Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri about their talks with Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmud Qureshi here today. On this occasion Hassan Mohyuddin, son of Dr Tahirul Qadri, and Tariq Bashir Cheema were also present.

Ch Shujat Hussain said that they had held talks with Shah Mahmud Qureshi regarding some points out of 10 points agenda of PML and PAT, we hope that some other parties would also be joining us.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that the govt was victim of panic and its statements were reflective of its being panicky and confused. He said process of consultation with Dr Tahirul Qadri would continue, many parties would be joining our alliance, we want to end the product of rigging govt.
