Pakistan Army is fighting for the survival of the country : Shahbaz Sharif

CM PUNJABLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Army is fighting for the survival of the country and all members of the society including children, elderly persons, youth, mothers and sisters are praying for its success.

He was talking to media and addressing a high level meeting of National Development Reforms Commission of China in Beijing today. The Chief Minister said that elimination of terrorism and energy crisis is essential for achieving the objectives of development projects. However, besides use of force, effective social measures are also needed for curbing terrorism and extremism, he added. He said that provision of education, health and other basic facilities to the common man is essential for foiling the nefarious designs of such elements as mislead the young generation towards extremism. He said that the existing situation cannot be viewed separately from the decisions taken in the decade of 80s.

Earlier, during meetings with Chinese authorities and heads of different institutions, Shahbaz Sharif said that the progress of China is a role model for Pakistan. He said that the western world is also surprised at the rapid development made by the China, however, it is the responsibility of China and other developed nations to share their experiences and successes with other countries. He said that shortage of electricity is a national crisis and China has helped Pakistan in every hour of need. He said that Pakistan is also fighting a war against energy crisis with the help of friendly countries. Federal Minister for Planning & Development Ahsan Iqbal while talking to media and addressing National Development Reforms Commission of China said that Pakistan’s economy has considerably improved during last one year. He said that the GDP ratio has increased, foreign exchange reserves have enhanced while industrial production has also improved despite energy crisis. He said that China should cooperate with Pakistan in those projects from which energy can be generated at the earliest.
