Energy is our priority: Shahbaz Sharif talks to senior officers of National Development China

CM PUNJABLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that during his visit to China, his priorities are promotion of cooperation with China in energy, infrastructure and transport sector.

He expressed these views while talking to senior officers of National Development and Reforms Commission after reaching at Beijing today. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Pak-China relations have entered into a new era and China has announced a package of billions of dollars for Pakistan first time in the history. He said that completion of economic corridor will prove to be a harbinger of a new chapter of progress and prosperity in Pakistan. Completion of this project will not only result in development of big cities but people of backward and far flung areas will also benefit from its fruits, he added. He said that today one year of launching of a historical package between Pakistani and Chinese leadership has completed and not a single day has passed
during this period when progress had not been made regarding its implementation. He said it is a good omen that concerned departments and the teams constituted by both friendly countries are actively working on the implementation of this great agreement based on Pak-China friendship. He said that Orange Line Project in provincial
metropolis is an excellent gift by the leadership and people of China for the people of Pakistan. He said that not only people of Lahore will get the facility of communication due to this project but it will also pave the way for modern, comfortable and rapid transport system in other cities of the country.

Later, the Chief Minister met head of Chinese company constructing 1320 megawatt power plant in Sahiwal and its senior office-bearers.

The Chief Minister said that he is fully aware of difficulties and hurdles faced in establishment of new electricity projects but despite this it is our desire that Sahiwal plant should start generation of electricity in shortest possible time. He said that PML-N government has promised the people of Pakistan to rid of load-shedding and it
will eliminate load-shedding at all costs. Head of Chinese Company assured that Sahiwal Power Plant will start production of electricity by December 2016. Officers of the company said that this plant would be one of those power plants of the world installed in shortest period of time.
