All DFOs to conserve forests in their respective areas :

Lahore: Parliamentary Secretary on Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries, Mian Fida Hussain Wattoo has asked all divisional forest officers to conserve forests in their respective areas and spare no efforts in retrieving government land of Forests Department from illegal occupants.

He said this during a departmental briefing, here today. Chief Conservator Forests Rana Shabbir Ahmed, Director General Fisheries Dr. Muhammad Ayub, Director General Wildlife Nayyer Iqbal and other officers attended the meeting. Fida Hussain Wattoo said that government is considering to formulate laws and punishment regarding wood theft more effective so that increasing incidents of wood theft could be checked. He also stressed for providing all possible facilities to the people visiting parks of Forests Department including Changa Manga and Jallo Park. He asked DG Fisheries Dr. Muhammad Ayub that the process of bidding of water should be made more transparent. He said that special instructions should be issued to Fisheries Officers to hold maximum seminars and workshops for the promotion of fish farming so that people could be motivated towards this profitable business. Parliamentary Secretary said that a comprehensive plan should be evolved for breeding of fish eating dengue larva in the fish ponds for eradication of dengue during monsoon season so that Fisheries Department could play its effective role during anti-dengue campaign.

Mian Fida Hussain Wattoo stressed upon officers of Wildlife to take all possible steps for providing natural environment to the animals and birds in Lahore Zoo, Safari Park and other parks of the province. He also directed to evolve a comprehensive plan for providing more facilities to the people visiting Lahore Zoo and Safari Park so that it could be implemented after final approval.
