Lahore: In order to avert model town incidents, in future, police force should adopt pro-active approach and should perform their duties independently and without any kind of pressure by following the SOPs of operational command.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera during his first ever formal meeting with all sectional heads of Central Police Office, Lahore, today. In the meeting the officers regretted over the model town incident and the reasons behind it were also discussed in detail. The provincial police chief said that he never saw a such incident during his 25 years career. He stated that we should prepare ourselves to meet the future challenges and for the purpose we should go through a strict internal accountability process. He said that the performance of the force at all levels will be regularly monitored and no body will be allowed to misuse his powers.
Moral of the force could only be boosted through commitment, dedication, honesty and professionalism added, the provincial police chief.
Proposals and suggestions regarding the reorganization of anti-roit force, operational command, permanent interaction with the fighting force, discipline and training also reviewed in the meeting.
