Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that women are playing an important role in the development of the country and implementation of the laws aimed at their protection is being ensured.
She was addressing a meeting held regarding amendments in Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010 here today which was also attended by Ombudsperson Punjab Mira Pahilbus, Chairperson Provincial Women Commission Fauzia Waqar and Provincial Secretary Irum Bukhari.
The meeting reviewed in detail Women Harassment Act 2010 and considered various proposals for making amendments.
The Minister said that women are 52 percent of total population and they cannot be neglected. She said that a sense of protection has been created among women through appointment of Ombudsperson and they can now directly lodge a complaint regarding harassment at workplace and it is binding upon Ombudsperson to redress their grievance within three months.
She said that with the consultation of Law Department, amendments will be made in Workplace Act 2010 for working women to give them greater sense of protection.
