Lahore: All-Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC) Inter-University Women Swimming Championship started at Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) swimming pool here on Wednesday. The 2-day championship is being held with the collaboration of Sports Board Punjab (SBP).
Punjab University swimmers dominated the proceedings on the opening day with 126 points. Overall, they grabbed four gold medals, three silvers and six bronze medals to finish on top of the table. University of Lahore (UoL) is placed second with 85 points and seven medals including three gold and four silver medals.
The remaining positions went to Iqra University, Karachi (22 points), Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) (seven points) and IUB (three points). The swimmers from Sargodha University failed to score any point on the first day of the championship. The concluding ceremony of the event will be held on Thursday (today) at 10.00am at the same venue.
