Separate courts for children demanded by Sanjog

Group Photo SanjogLahore: A workshop to discuss child relating laws was held here in Lahore, in which additional session judges, civil judges, judicial magistrates, provision officers & civil Society members participated.

In his presidential address Director General Punjab Judicial Academy Sohail Nasir said that Government had already introduced Juvenile Justice System Ordinance 2000 to protect the rights of Children. Through proper implementation of the said Ordinance we could solve all the problems related to Juveniles.

Senior Project Officer ‘Sanjog’ Miss Tayyeba Javed made it clear that the Government had failed to fulfill the clear directions of Juvenile Justice System Ordinance 2000 regarding the establishment of separate courts for children.

She said that by proper implementation on the laws relating to children and by strengthening the role of Probation Department we could decrease the numbers of Children in Jails and even by proper education and utmost care we could make such children responsible citizens of the country.
